Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’re pursuing a parallel path to ensure we can continue to serve students:

  • Piloting a digital reading program in preparation for the possibility of distance learning at our partner schools
  • Continuing our traditional in-classroom reading-based mentoring program

We will provide updates on our fall 2020 program via our newsletter and on social media:

To view the locations of our partner schools and see what our reading session schedule was for the 2019-20 school year, view our partner school map. Or, view our 2019-20 reading schedule in list form

Lead to Read KC reading sessions take place once a week in elementary classrooms. You donate a lunch hour—no evenings or weekends! You can choose from a variety of volunteer options:

  • Read once a week with a student
  • Partner with a friend or colleague to share a student and alternate sessions
  • Become a “Flextra” and attend as often as your schedule permits to read with a student whose weekly volunteer needs to miss a session
